Welcome to Turtle Island Reptile Rescuers of Eastern Oklahoma Sallisaw. Here we will do our best to educate about and, with pictures, show everyone reptiles. We also rescue other creatures who live with us here on our Earth Mother.
Unfortunately there aren't enough facilities around the Sallisaw area that provide care and knowledge for so-called exotic pets. Medical care can be expensive and in some cases require travel for some species because many veterinarians do not study care for several exotic species. Unfortunately many humans are scared of many types of exotics (native and non-native), this includes some of those studying veterinarian medicine. Due to this several reptiles, amphibians and other exotics die every year.
We hope we can educate enough people to prevent needless deaths and unwanted releases of exotic species into the wild. Releasing exotic species into local habitats can be devastating to many species that are native here or the exotic may die by not being able to adapt. I believe all creatures have a right to live in peace and they all have their purpose in nature's scheme of things as long as they are in their natural habitat. There have been many imported species (not only reptiles) that are destroying the balance of habitats throughout North America.
As this site grows, we will provide many links to other sites, pages with information we have gathered, pictures of those we have cared for, and how to contact us to help with rescues within a radius of Sallisaw.
Peace and Blessings to All - Rev. Robert E. Murchison, R.Pp. and Rev. Denise S. Murchison, D.Div.
Starting around the first of March 2011 we will begin building the TIRREOS social network. It will have forums, discussions, polls, videos and links like other networks. This new site will be based at the same hosting area as our Walking With Spirits Paranormal Studies social network. If you go and check it out, it can give you an idea of how the new TIRREOS network might be structured like . This site will of course remain active since it is our home site for our rescue team. When we have the TIRREOS network up and running we will post about it here with a link for you to see it. Peace and Blessings, Spiritwalker.
